Minerals and Sleep

Today I want to talk about minerals and sleep.

Minerals are absolutely key for us to function. They communicate everything. They deliver all the different messages; they are important for cell absorption. Everything depends on minerals and having a healthy mineral household is absolutely key for sleep.

As you know, I'm a big advocate for making it very clear that sleep is physical as well as metaphysical. Yes, it has to do with your stress load. Yes, it has to do with what's going on in your head. But it also has just as much to do with your biochemical household.

Minerals are just one piece of the puzzle which is why we always do a hair-tissue-mineral-analysis test to see what's going on with your mineral household over the last three months. What is fascinating in terms of minerals and sleep is that every mineral has different connections to other minerals that are either synergists or antagonists.

Depending on what you have, you need them to work in teams, in order to be able to create good absorptions. For example:

  • Many of you are having magnesium as a supplement. But what if your cells aren't absorbing it very well, or not at all? It would mean that your magnesium is not absorbed into the cell but into soft tissues, such as your hair, your cartilage, your arteries, and your nails, for example. So, it's not going anywhere and it's money down the drain.

  • What if you don't have enough sodium and potassium and you are not dissolving anything enough so that it can be absorbed? It might be that you have a great supplement regiment or a great diet, but things are not being dissolved enough in order to be absorbed.

  • What if you have a calcium shell around your cell which means that nothing really goes through because your calcium is not absorbed into the cell, but it's building a shell around it or it's not being soaked into the bone but it is deposited into soft tissue again.

Those are all crucial questions to ask yourself. Especially with magnesium, one thing that a lot of people don't know is that you need boron in order to absorb your magnesium. A lot of people don't have that. It is worth supplementing it. But how would you know if you don't go looking for it? It is a whole science and it is incredibly complex.

If you want to learn more about it, I'm shamelessly going to make a little advertisement for my friend Kendra Perry. She has an awesome course called Hair, Tissue Mineral Analysis: HTMA Expert, where you can learn about all this stuff. At Sleep Like A Boss, do those tests every time. All of us have done this education so that we can prep you in order to absorb what we're going to recommend you use. Otherwise, it's just going to end up somewhere where it's not going to be helpful and you keep spending money on nothing.

That is why we run this HTMA test and other lab tests and why we work (differently) than anyone else. It's because you need to understand how crucial the different connections between minerals and sleep are! Get in touch for more information and check out other interesting blog posts on our site.
